Media Experience

Finished Magazine!

The editing process begins!

Yr 13 Business studies, continued the excellent work they have been doing in their Retail Unit this week, by visiting the Newcastle Chronicle offices.

Students were tasked with designing & editing a magazine covering aspects of the Retail specification. Students used industry software which is used everyday to produce the magazines which appear in your daily newspaper.

The day was a huge success and showcased the skills of the students. Well done to all involved.

CLC Game Design

Adding code into the Game
Yr 9 were introduced to the world of Game Design this week, when they visited the City Learning Centre in Newcastle.

Students were given the task of designing a platform game which included writing code and designing levels and rewards for the characters in the game. Staff at the CLC were amazed at the progress made during the day and stated that the amount of work covered in one session was very rare for a group of students in Yr 9.

Well done to all students involved in the session, I hope you enjoyed the day as much as Mr. Wood and Mrs Morris.

RETAIL GOLD

Yr 13 Business Studies have been busy recently, mixing their Coursework with the world of work. As part of Unit 29 students have been finding out about the Retail Industry and spent a week working with Next, Debenhams and M&S. The idea is to put classroom theory into practice by giving students the opportunity to learn whilst working.

Feedback from participating stores has been very encouraging with Robert Robinson even encouraged to apply for a Trainee Management Position at M&S after his studies. Students will all attend an awards ceremony later in the year to celebrate their success in the project.

Well done to all Yr 13 involved in the project!!
